MADERA, Calif. – A $2 million gift from the James G. Boswell Foundation will support the areas of greatest need at Valley Children’s, helping ensure that kids continue to receive the highest quality care.
This latest contribution brings the foundation’s total giving to Valley Children’s over the past three years to $5.5 million.
“We are deeply grateful to the James G. Boswell Foundation for this extraordinary investment in the health and future of our children,” said Valley Children’s Healthcare President and CEO Todd Suntrapak. “Their generosity strengthens our ability to respond to the most urgent needs across our network and ensures that every child who walks through our doors receives world‑class care.”
The James G. Boswell Foundation was established by Colonel James G. Boswell, founder of the J.G. Boswell Company. Based in the southern San Joaquin Valley, the company is engaged in the production, processing and marketing of cotton, tomatoes, oilseeds, orchards and cattle.
“The mission of Valley Children’s aligns closely with our values of compassion, responsibility and service to others,” said Cameron Boswell, vice president of finance and administration for the J.G. Boswell Company. “This gift represents more than financial support. It reflects our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, have access to excellent care and thrive.”
Boswell said the company’s roots run deep in the Central Valley, and supporting Valley Children’s is a natural extension of their commitment to the communities where their employees live and work.
“Knowing that our support helps ensure children receive the care they need – sometimes lifesaving care – right in their own community is deeply rewarding,” he said.
The donation will benefit the Children’s Fund, which directs resources to the areas of greatest need and ensures immediate support for the kids and families Valley Children’s serves.
The Children’s Fund strengthens a wide range of services and programs, including investments in state-of-the-art technology, advanced equipment and the development of a highly skilled clinical team.
Just last year, the Boswell Foundation team visited Valley Children’s to present a check for $3 million that funded programs that rely on community support and grants, including adaptive sports, cancer survivorship and spiritual support.
“Valley Children’s has been a trusted partner for decades, providing exceptional care close to home,” Boswell said. “We continue our support because we see firsthand the difference the hospital makes for children and families, and we believe it’s essential to invest in institutions that strengthen the long-term health and vitality of our region.”
