Valley Children’s OB-GYN Helps Families Stay Local for Complex Pregnancy Care

FRESNO, Calif. – In the heart of California’s Central Valley, Dr. Daniel Hernandez and Valley Children’s Healthcare are helping keep families close to home by providing specialized care for mothers with complex pregnancies.

“We try to keep Central Valley patients in the Central Valley,” said Hernandez, an OB-GYN at Warner Women’s Healthcare, part of the Valley Children’s Healthcare network. “When we have these complex issues, these patients can receive their care locally.”

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Hernandez trained on the island and fell in love with obstetrics during his first delivery as a medical student. That moment shaped his career and his commitment to maternal health.

“Healthy children start from a healthy pregnancy,” he said. “We are here to provide the best care that both mom and baby deserve.”

Located in north Fresno, Warner Women’s sees patients referred to the team through Valley Children’s Maternal Fetal Center, often carrying uncertainty, fear and questions.

Hernandez said the clinic works closely with pediatric specialists to develop personalized care plans for each patient through the pregnancy process and post-birth.

“It is very rewarding when you see that these babies come back healthy after they are born,” he said, adding that families will return with photos of their children to share. “You see how happy they are that the babies are thriving.”

The clinic operates as a tightly coordinated team, Hernandez said, with each staff member understanding their role in supporting the community.

As the clinic’s reach expands, it continues to serve more families than ever before.

“I love working at Valley Children’s,” Hernandez said. “I think we make a difference in people’s lives. We provide the care they need.”
