MADERA, Calif. – Autographs, photos and laughter helped create lasting memories at Valley Children’s this week as Fresno State football players connected with patients during their annual hospital visit.
The student-athletes visited children throughout the hospital, offering encouragement, conversation and a chance for young Bulldogs fans to spend time with players ahead of the upcoming football season.
Much of the action took place in the Guilds Hall of Fame inside Valley Children’s Hospital, where players joined patients in a variety of activities, including football-themed bingo, board games, coloring, slime-making and video games. Players cheered enthusiastically when children at their tables won bingo prizes, creating memorable moments for patients and players alike.
Additional groups of players visited patient rooms across several units, ensuring children unable to attend the group activities could still take part in the experience. During the visits, players signed autographs, posed for photos and spent one-on-one time with patients and their families.
“We’re incredibly grateful for Fresno State’s continued partnership and commitment to our patients and families,” said Bryan Estrada, child life coordinator at Valley Children’s. “These student-athletes bring so much energy and encouragement, and their willingness to spend time with our kids makes a lasting impact on everyone involved.”
For Fresno State freshman quarterback Deagan Rose, the visit provided an opportunity to connect with children beyond the game of football.
“Fresno State is a big part of the community, and we wanted to come out and provide a great experience for the kids,” Rose said. “Sometimes you get caught up in football, and then you just come here and you’re a kid again.”
Rose said the experience was meaningful for both the players and the children they met.
“It’s been a lot of fun and I’m happy to be here today,” Rose said. “I know these kids are going to remember this day and so are we.”
The annual visit reflects the longstanding partnership between Fresno State and Valley Children’s and their shared commitment to supporting children and families across the Central Valley.
