Valley Children’s Named Solutions for Patient Safety Hospital of the Month for the Third Year in a Row

MADERA, Calif. – Valley Children’s has been named the Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) Hospital of the Month for August 2024, marking its third achievement of this prestigious award. The SPS network is comprised of 140+ hospitals and is driven by the shared goal of eliminating serious harm across all children’s hospitals. This award is given to a noteworthy hospital that has demonstrated outstanding work in pediatric patient safety.

“We are honored to receive this national recognition for the third time, which is a testament to the consistent dedication and exceptional efforts of our staff whose commitment to delivering the best care exceeds national standards,” proudly shared Raed Khoury, Valley Children’s Vice President of Quality, Patient Safety and Clinical Value. “Achievements like this are only possible when a team is composed of the best professionals who adhere to the most effective processes – and that is what we do together at Valley Children’s.”

Setting Valley Children’s apart from other hospitals also committed to providing safe and quality of care is:

  • Achieving 100% compliance in submitting outcome data for hospital -acquired conditions (HACs) and maintaining a perfect record for process reliability data.
  • Excellence in reducing harm by sustaining a zero rate for HACs patient injuries and showing an improvement for HACs unexpected events.
  • Educational contributions and engagement for sharing the hospital’s expertise through presentations at national webinars and learning sessions.
  • Commitment to continuous and ongoing learning and improvement for all staff by participating in various national and regional safety networks.

This is one of many national recognitions Valley Children’s has received that reinforce the pediatric healthcare network’s commitment to excellence. In addition to being ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best children’s hospitals in the country in six pediatric specialties, Valley Children’s was also the first children’s hospital west of the Rockies to receive Magnet® Nursing designation, the highest nursing benchmark in the world. Valley Children’s is also ranked as a Top Children’s Hospital by The Leapfrog Group making them among the best 3% in the country and is 1 out of only 8 in the nation for exceptional performance and for putting patients first.
